The Arts Society Shrewsury is dedicated to supporting community enterprises that encourage young people to access a wide variety of art projects. We believe that it is important to help nurture the talents of young people who may not otherwise experience the wide ranging opportunities that all areas of the arts gives them.
In 2025 we sponsored two projects:
- Coleham School's participation in the Art Bytes programme. This is a "not for profit" national art and EdTech programme for primary, secondary and SEND schools, combining an inter school art competition with a bespoke virtual gallery. It was set up 10 years ago and has proved to nurture talent, raise ambition and develop confidence as well as support mental health and develop vital skills for future employment. We hope to expand our involvement in the project going forward.
- 200 Art Bags for Children, distributed through the Barnabus Community Foodbank Plus over the summer holidays. The positive feedback from St Barnabus has been very encouraging and it was truly a worthwhile project
In 2006 we will continue our sponsorship with Bookfest Shropshire
Our income to support community projects comes solely from the generosity of our members who, each month, buy raffle tickets to support the Young Arts. We are always very grateful to each of them for their support of these very worthwhile causes.
